Happpy New Year!

I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
And he replied, “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.

So I went forth and finding the hand of God, trod safely into the night
And He led me toward the hill and the breaking of dawn in the East.

It’s a lovely cool breezy day here to begin the new Millenium. I woke early, in spite of staying up till the wee hours with friends.

Instead of taking a shower this morning, I used one of the buckets of water I had saved last night. (just in case) I added a bit of hot water, got in the bath tub and poured the water over myself. Yeah, I know its crazy, but I don’t like wasting good water.

I’m so thankful the Millenium Bug didn’t bite, after all. I wasn’t really worried, but even the experts were a bit uneasy. It did seem sensible to take a few simple precautions. I was mostly concerned about our water supply and had bought some bottles of spring water, just in case. It will still be useful.Sometimes the water here has an awful slimy taste in Summer so it will be good to have some good clean water on hand. Oh yes, I had stocked up on toilet paper too - and cat food. I have enough toilet paper for the next few months and if anything happens to Buddy and Ingrid, I’ll have to get another cat to use up the cat food!

I went to Mum and Dad’s for lunch. Relle and Ian came too. We had a lazy relaxing day watching the New Year celebrations around the world on TV. I wonder what the earth looked like from outer space, with fireworks going off all around the globe!
